About
About Newell Craig
Newell Craig is a Portland, Oregon-based corporate development advisory firm offering the sophistication of a boutique investment bank with the personalized, bespoke service that larger firms cannot provide. We serve companies underserved by traditional investment banks and boutique M&A firms, yet requiring more advanced expertise than a lower-middle-market business broker can deliver.
Unlike firms focused solely on closing transactions, we deliver both M&A advisory and corporate development consulting. Clients engage us to understand the M&A process, evaluate what strategic and private equity buyers seek in a target, and prepare their businesses for acquisition or sale. We also advise on corporate and operational strategy, performance tracking, and best practices in corporate development — capabilities informed by direct experience leading complex global M&A transactions, managing business teams, and executing strategic initiatives.
Our engagements are scaled to client need. Services range from financial modeling and valuation analysis to full transaction management, from target identification through due diligence and closing. We recognize that disciplined planning and resource alignment are often as critical to outcomes as the transaction itself.
Newell Craig operates on a foundation of integrity, confidentiality, and disciplined self-awareness. We do not overcommit, and we will not accept an engagement when another advisor is better positioned to serve the client. In those cases, we draw on an established network of trusted referral partners.
Nate Liebler
Principal
Nate brings a distinctive combination of M&A, investment banking, corporate finance, strategic planning, operating, and commercial real estate experience.
He began his career in commercial real estate finance with a leading West Coast owner-operator, where he arranged and negotiated more than $900 million of property and corporate debt across over 70 transactions, building deep relationships with institutional lenders, banks, and brokers.
Nate later joined a global manufacturer of premium wear products serving the mining, oil and gas, and construction and industrial markets. He initially focused on corporate finance and strategic planning before transitioning into a corporate M&A role, where he led and coordinated numerous global acquisitions and divestitures ranging from $4 million to $325 million across both domestic and international markets. His responsibilities spanned sourcing, negotiation, deal structuring, due diligence, and closing — coordinating sellers and diverse teams of advisors throughout each transaction.
Beyond his transactional work, Nate led a $20 million industrial products business spanning multiple product lines, industries, and international geographies, while concurrently directing strategic planning, market research, and business development for the broader Construction and Industrial Division.
Most recently, Nate was a Partner at a boutique investment bank, advising lower-middle-market companies in the Pacific Northwest on M&A, private placements of equity and debt capital, and merchant banking. Across his career, he has cultivated a strong network of lenders, private equity sponsors, and professional service providers.
Nate holds an MBA and a B.S. in Business Management from Oregon State University and previously held a Series 79 securities license with FINRA.
